Our Priests

Dr. Swami Satya Prakash, an esteemed scholar and spiritual guide, has been serving as the Senior Priest at Hindu Temple Burnaby since 2012. Born in India and having spent much of his life in Kashi, he possesses deep expertise in Hindu scriptures, rituals, and spiritual teachings. With over 50 years of experience, Swamiji has mastered karmakanda, religious ceremonies, poojas, havans, kirtans, and bhajans, conducting these in Hindi, Sanskrit, and English. His role extends beyond temple services, as he actively educates and mentors devotees, guiding them in Hindu traditions, prayers, and self-realization. Swamiji’s pravachans (spiritual discourses) cover a vast array of sacred texts, including the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Brahmasutra, Shiv Puran, Ramayan, Srimad Bhagavatam, and Vedanta, offering profound insights into Hindu philosophy and spirituality.

Swamiji is a rare blend of scholar, musician, and yogic practitioner, often referred to as a ‘Triveni’—a master of Hindu shastras, classical music, and authentic yogic practices such as ‘Khechari’. Holding a Ph.D. in Performing Arts, he integrates music into his teachings, mesmerizing listeners with his melodious Sanskrit verses, bhajans, and self-composed poetry. As a dedicated spiritual leader, he engages in interfaith activities, community outreach, and counseling, visiting homes, hospitals, and prisons to offer comfort and religious services. His exceptional knowledge and oratory skills have earned him several prestigious accolades, including the Lata Mangeshkar Award in Music. Swamiji continues to inspire and uplift the Hindu community, serving as a guiding force for faith, devotion, and cultural preservation at Hindu Temple Burnaby.
